Introduction

The world of higher education is changing. With the rising cost of tuition, more students are turning to scholarships as a way to make college more affordable. In fact, according to a recent survey by ScholarshipAmerica, a nonprofit organization that offers more than $1 billion in annual scholarships and other financial support programs for students pursuing higher education:

  • 81% of parents said they would be willing to take on more debt if it meant their child could attend an institution with lower tuition;
  • 77% said they’d consider moving so their child could attend college closer to home;
  • 73% said they would work longer hours at work so their children could attend college closer out-of-state (or internationally).

StudentScholarships.com has created a scholarship contest called Beyond the Numbers. They’re looking for applicants who have received or currently receive scholarships as an opportunity to share their story and inspire other students to apply for scholarships as well as pursue higher education.
